BELLINGHAM, Wash. — U.S. Border Patrol announced this week that agents arrested two Mexican citizens near Sumas on May 20.
According to Border Patrol, agents with the Blaine Sector’s Targeted Enforcement Unit worked with Customs and Border Protection officers at the Sumas Port of Entry to make the arrests. The agency said the two individuals were in the United States illegally.

However, Border Patrol did not release the names of those arrested, their ages, the exact location of the arrests, or additional details about the circumstances of the case.
Likewise, the agency did not disclose whether the individuals had prior immigration violations or criminal histories. Border Patrol generally does not respond to media inquiries about targeted enforcement operations.
The agency announced the arrests in a brief statement posted online by Border Patrol. As a result, no further information was immediately available.
