About the Founder and Editor-in-Chief
Brian Henderson is an experienced journalist, storyteller, and digital content creator with a career spanning three decades of local, state, and freelance reporting. He developed and launched several successful brands in the Pacific Northwest — including 105.7 The Hawk in Yakima and PNW Perks in Bellingham — covered PAC-12 sports at Fox Sports Eugene, and reported for Capitol Network News at the Oklahoma State Capitol working for the legendary Darwin Maxey.
Brian attended Radio and Television vocational training with real on-air hours at WYCS in Yorktown, Virginia, as a student at Tabb High School in the early 90s. He later attended the University of Missouri—Columbia from 1995 to 1997 as a journalism major, working as a reporter and student editor at The Maneater — The Student Voice of Mizzou since 1955. In 2010 he studied environmental science and business at St. Petersburg College before transferring to Washington State University Tri-Cities in Richland, where he worked as classifieds editor for the Prosser Record-Bulletin and Grandview Herald, handling page layout and digital publication for both papers.
Brian has five daughters and moved to Whatcom County in February 2022 with his twins to serve as Production and Creative Services Director at Cascade Radio Group. There he helped launch My Bellingham Now as the new home of KGMI radio, and created much of the graphic identity those brands use today.
You might recognize him from Bellingham’s own Yeager’s Sporting Goods, where he worked weekends for many years in the fishing department — sharing his love for the outdoors with eager new anglers and seasoned fishermen alike.
We cover the stories that matter without the spin — with honesty, insight, and a connection to the people and places that make the Pacific Northwest unique.
