SEATTLE — The Seahawks are bringing the Lombardi Trophy home, and the Pacific Northwest is ready to celebrate. Here’s what you need to know to attend the Seahawks World Champions Parade downtown.
The celebration follows Seattle’s 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium, giving the franchise its second NFL title.
City officials expect between 750,000 and one million fans to line downtown streets Wednesday for the Seahawks World Champions Parade.
Officially a party
The City of Seattle, the Seattle Sports Commission, and the Seattle Seahawks are hosting the parade. With Bud Light, the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, and T-Mobile present the event, with Seafair producing it, it is an all-out big event that should be the party of the decade downtown.
Seattle Mayor Katie B. Wilson said the championship united the city and capped a historic season and encouraged fans to celebrate responsibly.
“This year’s Seahawks team brought all of Seattle together with the strongest, loudest, and most united spirit I’ve ever seen,” said Wilson. “And yesterday, they delivered in historic fashion, beating the Patriots and bringing a second Lombardi Trophy home to Seattle. Now it’s time to celebrate.”
Beth Knox, president and CEO of the Seattle Sports Commission, said the championship places Seattle back on the national stage.
“This championship adds a powerful chapter to Seattle’s sports story and places our city once again on the national stage,” said Beth Knox, President and CEO, Seattle Sports Commission. “An NFC title and a Super Bowl victory reflect the heart, preparation, and resilience of this organization. We look forward to gathering downtown with fans to celebrate a moment that will be remembered long after the banners are raised.”
Parade schedule and route
The celebration begins with a Trophy Celebration at Lumen Field at 10 a.m. Gates open at 8:30 a.m.
The stadium event is free and open to the public. However, fans must secure tickets in advance.
At 11 a.m., the parade will begin at 4th Avenue and Washington Street. It will travel northbound on 4th Avenue and end at 4th Avenue and Cedar Street. The route stretches just over two miles and should take about two hours.
After the parade ends, organizers have not scheduled additional events at Seattle Center.
What fans should know
Fans can pick up Seahawks World Champions rally cards at select Starbucks locations along the parade route. In addition, ticket holders at the Lumen Field celebration will receive a rally card when they enter the stadium.
Officials urge attendees to plan ahead due to large crowds and limited access downtown.
Traffic and transit impacts
Downtown Seattle will see major traffic disruptions from early morning through the early afternoon on Wednesday.
Streets intersecting 4th Avenue between Lumen Field and Seattle Center will close from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Surrounding streets will also experience congestion.
I-5 and I-90 on- and off-ramps will briefly close at the start of the parade. Crews will reopen them shortly afterward.
Link light rail will operate on its regular schedule. Meanwhile, Sound Transit and King County Metro buses will use alternate routes around closures.
Officials strongly encourage fans to use public transportation. King County Metro’s Trip Planner can help riders plan routes downtown or to nearby light rail stations. Riders should also check Metro service advisories for route changes on parade day.
Drivers can find real-time traffic conditions through the WSDOT mobile app and travel map. Park-and-ride locations are available throughout the region for those commuting into the city.
The trophy celebration inside Lumen Field will be broadcast on KING 5 television.
