BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A two-story residential home was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon near the Guide Meridian, with firefighters forced to battle the blaze from outside the structure because of conditions inside.
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to 5558 Guide Meridian at 1:40 p.m. Sept. 10. The first command unit arrived at 1:44 p.m., followed by the first engine at 1:47 p.m.
The fire involved a two-story, wood-framed residential home.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at 2:47 p.m., but crews remained at the scene until 10:21 p.m.
Home Was a Total Loss
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue said the home was a total loss. Because of the conditions inside the house and the extent of the fire involvement, firefighters had to extinguish the blaze from the exterior.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or fire department personnel. No evacuations were reported.
Bellingham Fire Department also sent several units to assist North Whatcom Fire and Rescue. Two BFD units remained on scene assisting with the incident during the response.
Fire Cause Under Investigation
The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. No cause has been released.
