BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Fire crews responded Thursday afternoon to a structure fire near the Guide Meridian north of Bellingham, with Bellingham Fire Department units assisting North Whatcom Fire and Rescue at the scene.
Flames could be seen rising above the trees between Smith and Axton Roads.
Dustin Michaelis, a Bellingham Fire Department public information officer and fire captain, said BFD sent several units to the incident. As of Thursday evening, two BFD units remained at the scene assisting North Whatcom Fire and Rescue.
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue is the primary agency handling the incident because the fire occurred within its response area.
Additional information about the fire, including the exact location, extent of damage, injuries and cause, was not immediately available.
