A Sedro-Woolley motorcyclist has died weeks after his crash on North Cascades Highway near Ohara Road in Skagit County, WSP says.(Map: WSDOT)
HAMILTON, Wash. — Weeks after his tragic crash on SR 20, 76-year-old Larry D. Hildebrand of Sedro-Woolley has died from his injuries.
Hildebrand was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the Aug. 18 crash near Ohara Road in Skagit County. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner notified Washington State Patrol of his death Sept. 28, according to an updated WSP report.

The crash happened around 2:25 p.m. near milepost 78.4. Hildebrand was riding west on SR 20 when he slowed down. A 2001 Toyota 4Runner behind him then struck the motorcycle, according to the WSP investigation.
Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lanes.
Motorcycle rider dies from crash injuries
Hildebrand was transported by air to Harborview after the collision. He was wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation-compliant helmet, according to WSP.
The driver of the 4Runner, 44-year-old Melissa Dahlbeckmiller of Concrete, escaped injury. She was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The crash initially closed SR 20 in both directions near Ohara Road while troopers and fire crews investigated the scene.
WSDOT later reported that all lanes had reopened.
Cause remains under investigation
The updated Washington State Patrol report now classifies the incident as a fatal traffic collision. It lists one person deceased and no injured people.
WSP continues to list the cause as under investigation. The report lists drugs or alcohol as unknown and does not establish either as a factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
