FREELAND, Wash. — A 76-year-old Riverside, California, man died Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash on State Route 525 at Scott Road near Freeland.
Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the crash at about 8:25 a.m. Sept. 24 near milepost 17. Trooper Kelsey Harding reported that the crash blocked SR 525 in both directions as troopers investigated.

According to the WSP collision report, the 76-year-old man, identified as Geza Kisch, stopped at a stop sign on Scott Road. He then turned left onto SR 525 in front of a northbound Mack truck.
The truck struck Kisch’s 2013 Honda Fit. The Honda came to rest on its roof along the southbound shoulder. The truck stopped in the northbound lane.
One Driver Killed In Crash
Kisch died at the scene. The 27-year-old truck driver from Tulalip did not suffer injuries.
Both drivers wore seat belts, according to WSP.
Troopers identified failure to yield as the cause of the crash. WSP reported that drugs or alcohol did not contribute to the collision.
SR 525 Reopens
The crash blocked both directions of SR 525 while troopers investigated and worked to establish a detour.
WSDOT North reported shortly after noon that crews had cleared the collision and reopened all lanes.
The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
