Bicyclist Dies After Being Struck South of Smokey Point

ARLINGTON, Wash. — A 52-year-old bicyclist died Saturday night after a vehicle struck him south of Smokey Point.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies responded around 10:10 p.m. to the 15200 block of 23rd Avenue NE. The location sits about 2 miles south of the main Smokey Point commercial area.

According to the sheriff’s office, a 40-year-old woman was driving south on 23rd Avenue NE when her vehicle struck the bicyclist in the middle of the road. Fire personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No other vehicles were involved.
