ARLINGTON, Wash. — A 52-year-old bicyclist died Saturday night after a vehicle struck him south of Smokey Point.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies responded around 10:10 p.m. to the 15200 block of 23rd Avenue NE. The location sits about 2 miles south of the main Smokey Point commercial area.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 40-year-old woman was driving south on 23rd Avenue NE when her vehicle struck the bicyclist in the middle of the road. Fire personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No other vehicles were involved.
Detectives do not suspect speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
Meanwhile, authorities closed 23rd Avenue NE for several hours while the sheriff’s Collision Investigation Unit examined the scene.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the bicyclist. The office will also determine his cause and manner of death.
