MONROE, Wash. — Law enforcement officers are searching for an incarcerated man who escaped Thursday night from the Minimum Security Unit at Monroe Correctional Complex.
The Washington State Department of Corrections said Samuel Evans Kimble, 25, escaped at 10:53 p.m. Thursday, May 14. Staff discovered Kimble was missing during a formal count at 3:30 a.m. Friday. As a result, officials restricted movement inside the facility while officers searched the grounds.
Investigators later reviewed security footage and confirmed the time of the escape.

Background
According to DOC, Kimble is serving a 27-month sentence for a domestic violence court order violation with assault out of Snohomish County. His earned release date is Jan. 5, 2027.
Authorities notified nearby schools and alerted local law enforcement agencies following the escape.

Officials warned the public not to approach Kimble. Instead, anyone with information should call 911 or DOC headquarters at (360) 480-2696.
DOC said officers and local police are focused on locating and apprehending Kimble. After authorities take him back into custody, DOC plans to conduct a review of the escape.
