SEATTLE — Seattle police detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing death of a 19-year-old University of Washington student inside a campus housing building.
On May 13, a 31-year-old man surrendered himself to the Bellevue Police Department. Custody then transferred to Seattle Police Department Homicide detectives. Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of murder.
What Happened
The homicide occurred May 10 at Nordheim Court, 5000 25th Avenue Northeast, a University of Washington campus housing building. UW Police officers responded around 10:10 p.m. to reports of a stabbing. They found the victim deceased in a laundry room.
Seattle Fire Department crews attempted lifesaving measures but pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Campus police cordoned off the area and Seattle Police assumed investigative authority. Detectives from the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation units then processed the scene.
Suspect Identified Before Surrender
On May 13, before the arrest, detectives publicly identified the suspect and released surveillance images asking for the public’s help. The suspect description matched a light-skinned Black male approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build, short black hair, a goatee, and darker-rimmed glasses.
Later that same day, the man surrendered to Bellevue Police. The names of both the suspect and victim have not yet been publicly released.
