How the Crash Happened
The crash occurred around 5:11 a.m. on the southbound I-405 off-ramp to Coal Creek Parkway. Anaiyah Wyatt, 22, of Auburn was traveling in the right lane of the two-lane exit when she lost control of her 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The car then veered to the right, struck an embankment, and came to rest in a wooded area off the roadway.
Emergency crews transported Wyatt to Harborview Medical Center. Investigators noted she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Furthermore, troopers determined speed was a contributing factor. Drugs and alcohol were not involved.
As a result of the crash, the off-ramp remained blocked for approximately two hours and 22 minutes, causing delays for morning commuters. The Jetta was totaled and later towed from the scene.
