Multistate One More Stop Patrol Honors Fallen WSP Trooper

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Washington State Patrol has been conducting increased patrols on I-5 north of Bellingham this week and agencies across the region will be joining them this weekend.

Law enforcement agencies across multiple states will increase traffic enforcement this weekend to honor Washington State Patrol Trooper Christopher Gadd #927, who died after an impaired driver struck him in 2024.

WSP announced the multistate emphasis Wednesday. The campaign honors Gadd and the final traffic stop he planned before his death.

Gadd worked along Interstate 5 near Marysville on March 2, 2024, when an impaired driver struck him. Before the incident, Gadd messaged his detachment that he would meet them after “One More Stop.”

Gadd planned to look for another speeding or potentially impaired driver before meeting his colleagues.

One More Stop Campaign

Law enforcement agencies launched the “One More Stop” campaign after Gadd’s death. The campaign encourages officers to continue making traffic stops that can prevent crashes and save lives.

Washington, Oregon and Idaho agencies joined the multistate effort in 2025.

This weekend’s emphasis will target dangerous driving behaviors, including impaired driving and excessive speed.

The campaign carries the same message behind Gadd’s final communication with his colleagues: making one more stop could prevent a tragedy.

Remembering Trooper Gadd

Gadd served with the Washington State Patrol and worked in the Marysville area when he died.

His colleagues, family and members of the community gathered for his memorial service at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett on March 12, 2024.

The annual “One More Stop” campaign now gives law enforcement agencies across state lines an opportunity to honor Gadd while focusing on the traffic violations that put other motorists and officers at risk.

Drivers can expect increased enforcement this weekend as participating agencies look for impaired, speeding and otherwise dangerous drivers.
