SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — The sun had barely cleared the treeline along SR 525 Tuesday morning when a left turn near Beverly Park Road ended a life and shut down a highway for hours. The crash killed a motorcyclist instantly. Meanwhile, the driver who turned into his path had already vanished into the same morning traffic that had just come to a stop around him.
The motorcyclist, 44-year-old Jeffrey A. Woods of Mukilteo, died at the scene. According to Trooper Kelsey Harding of the Washington State Patrol, the driver of the other vehicle fled before troopers arrived.
There are Washington Department of Transportation traffic cameras nearby.

According to Washington State Patrol, the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Aug. 11 on SR 525 in Snohomish County.
“S525 at Beverly Park Rd is fully blocked for a car v. motorcycle hit and run fatality collision. Please be patient while troopers on scene investigate this tragic collision.”

Vehicle turns into motorcycle’s path
According to the WSP collision report, a blue 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan was northbound in the left-turn lane.
The Dodge turned into the southbound lanes in front of Woods, who was riding southbound in Lane 1.
The motorcycle struck the Dodge.
The impact left the motorcycle in Lane 1. The Dodge driver then fled the scene.
According to WSP, both vehicles suffered total-loss damage.
Motorcyclist dies at scene
WSP confirmed Woods, 44, died at the scene.
WSP said Woods was wearing a USDOT-compliant helmet. Mukilteo police notified his next of kin.
The motorcycle was a black 2025 Kawasaki ZX1002LSFAL.
The collision report lists drugs or alcohol involvement as unknown. So far, investigators have not determined the cause of the crash.
Troopers investigate hit-and-run
The crash closed SR 525 near Beverly Park Road while troopers investigated. Troopers also closed a northbound lane and the turn lane.
WSP identified the fleeing vehicle as a blue 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. However, the agency’s report lists the driver as unknown.
Troopers continue to investigate the fatal hit-and-run.
