Motorcyclist Dies in Six-Vehicle Crash on I-5 in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. — A 21-year-old Kenmore motorcyclist died Tuesday evening after a six-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 5 near Everett Mall Way.

Blake W. Frenick was riding a white 2016 Honda CBR500 near Everett Mall Way when the crash occurred around 5:10 p.m. Aug. 4.

“The 3 left lanes near S5 Everett Mall Way (MP189) are blocked for a multi-vehicle serious injury collision,” Trooper Kelsey Harding said Tuesday at the time of the accident.

Five vehicles were traveling south in the third lane near milepost 189. Meanwhile, a Cadillac Escalade was traveling alongside them in the HOV lane.

According to the Washington State Patrol report, Frenick’s motorcycle struck four vehicles in the third lane. Frenick was then thrown from the motorcycle and struck the Cadillac in the HOV lane.

“The rider of vehicle one struck vehicle six and came to rest in the HOV lane,” WSP reported.

Motorcyclist Died at the Scene

Frenick was riding a white 2016 Honda CBR500 southbound in the third lane when the motorcycle struck four vehicles, according to WSP.

The rider then struck a black 2017 Cadillac Escalade traveling in the HOV lane. Frenick died at the scene despite wearing a federally compliant motorcycle helmet.

The motorcycle was totaled and removed by DTI Towing of Everett.

Five Other Vehicles Damaged

The collision also involved a Toyota Corolla, Tesla Model Y, Chrysler 300, Mazda CX-50 and Cadillac Escalade. Each sustained reportable damage.

WSP identified the other drivers as:

• Eugenia Ramosdiaz, 32, of Everett
• Mandeep Kaur, 44, of Bothell
• Dylan Young, 26, of Everett
• Lincoln Young, 25, of Bothell
• Trevan Bonnifield, 33, of Camano Island

Taylor Bonnifield, 33, of Camano Island, was riding as a passenger in the Cadillac. WSP reported that everyone inside the five passenger vehicles wore seat belts.

No other injuries were reported.
