SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle police arrested one suspect and continued searching Monday for another person allegedly involved in a shooting that killed three people and injured four others at the Bite of Seattle.
Investigators believe two people exchanged gunfire outside the Seattle Center Armory around 6 p.m. Sunday. Seven people of varying ages were struck.
“Our officers were there within seconds. They performed emergency aid to the wounded until the Seattle Fire Department was on scene.”

Three People Killed
Seattle police identified those killed as a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman.
The two men died at the scene. The woman later died at Harborview Medical Center.
Officers performed CPR and first aid until Seattle firefighters arrived. Davis credited their rapid response with preventing additional deaths.
“Simultaneously, officers launched a search for the people responsible for this senseless violence,” Davis said.
Toddler Among Four Survivors
Four other people, including a 2-year-old boy, survived the shooting. All four remained in stable condition at local hospitals early Monday.
Harborview previously identified three patients as the 2-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman. A fourth patient, later identified as the 56-year-old woman, underwent surgery but died from her injuries.
Seattle firefighters transported four victims to Harborview. Another victim arrived separately at UW Medical Center.
Second Suspect Remains at Large
One suspect surrendered as officers responded to the gunfire. Police took the man to Seattle Police Headquarters for questioning.
Investigators recovered two guns at the scene. However, police believe another person participated in the exchange and left the area.
Detectives continue to pursue leads to identify and locate that person. Police said they do not believe an ongoing threat remains to the public.
The Homicide Unit and Gun Violence Reduction Unit are leading the investigation. Several other agencies assisted at Seattle Center.
Mayor and Governor Address Shooting
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, Gov. Bob Ferguson and law enforcement officials addressed reporters nearly five hours after the shooting.
“What happened here today at the Seattle Center was an unbelievable tragedy and a horrific act of violence,” Wilson said.
The mayor noted that Seattle had experienced three major gun violence incidents within several days.
“We have far too much gun violence in this city and in this country,” Wilson said. “We have a lot of work to do as a city and as a country to make this better.”
Ferguson described the Bite of Seattle as one of the city’s most iconic events.
“It’s where our community comes together and enjoys our city and being together,” Ferguson said. “Any shooting like this is senseless. I think it’s magnified for an event like this.”
“I can’t imagine being the parent of a two-year-old toddler, for example, who was injured in a shooting like this. But for everybody who was impacted, our hearts go out to them.”

Police Seek Information
Police have not identified the victims or the suspect in custody. Investigators also have not announced what led to the exchange of gunfire.
