Passenger Dies After Car Strikes Tree on SR 410

GREENWATER, Wash. — A car carrying three women left state Route 410 and struck a tree east of Greenwater Thursday, closing the highway for more than four hours.

Car Left Highway Near Milepost 53

The fatal SR 410 crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. July 16 near milepost 53 in Pierce County.

According to WSP, the driver was heading east in a 2006 Subaru Impreza when the car’s wheels left the roadway. The Subaru struck a tree before coming to rest in a ditch.

Troopers listed wheels leaving the roadway as the cause of the crash. Additionally, WSP reported that drugs and alcohol did not play a role.

Passenger Died at the Scene

One passenger died at the scene. Authorities had not released her identity as of Thursday afternoon.

The WSP collision memo indicates that the passenger did not wear a seat belt. However, both women who survived the crash wore seat belts.

WSP identified the driver as 27-year-old Adlena Y. Alvaradopolio of Pomona, California. Crews transported her to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, responders took passenger Karina Y. Rodriguez Aguirre, 26, of Yakima to Good Samaritan Hospital. WSP did not provide details about either woman’s injuries or condition.

SR 410 Closed for More Than Four Hours

Emergency crews closed the highway while troopers investigated the crash and responders cleared the wreckage.

As a result, SR 410 remained blocked for approximately four hours and 28 minutes. Fred’s Towing removed the totaled Subaru from the scene.
