Trooper Kelsey Harding said a collision involving a commercial vehicle and a Kia Soul caused congestion near Iowa Street. Troopers arrested the commercial vehicle driver for DUI at the scene while the agency’s commercial vehicle division investigated the crash.
Harding said the arrest marked the second daytime impaired-driving case of the day. Earlier, another trooper arrested a driver who registered a blood-alcohol concentration above 0.20, more than twice the legal limit.
Later that afternoon, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at about 4:04 p.m. on State Route 546 at Northwood Road near Lynden. Lynden police secured the scene until troopers arrived, and investigators determined impairment was again a factor, resulting in a third DUI arrest.
No additional details about injuries or charges were immediately available.
