KENT, Wash. — A 20-year-old Tacoma man faces a reckless driving charge after a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 near State Route 516 in Kent sent him to a hospital Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash happened at 9:23 a.m. Oct. 16, when a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle struck a vehicle while attempting to pass it, then slid across multiple lanes and hit a third vehicle, according to the State Patrol incident report.

Trooper Rick Johnson said troopers determined the motorcycle, driven by Comer, caused the accident and charged him with reckless driving.
“Thankfully no major injuries,” Johnson said.
Motorcycle Strikes Two Vehicles
According to the State Patrol, three vehicles were traveling northbound on I-5 near SR 516. The motorcycle and a 2011 GMC Yukon were traveling in the fifth lane of the six-lane roadway, while a 2010 Subaru Forester traveled in the third lane.
Troopers reported that the motorcycle approached the Yukon from behind at a high rate of speed. As the Yukon moved into the fourth lane to allow the motorcycle to pass, the motorcycle split the lane and struck the side of the SUV.
The motorcycle then slid to the right across multiple lanes and struck the rear of the Subaru Forester.
The motorcycle stopped across the third and fourth lanes. The Subaru came to rest in the third lane, while the Yukon stopped in the median separating northbound and southbound traffic.
I-5 Closed for More Than Two Hours
The collision shut down the roadway for two hours and 26 minutes, according to the State Patrol.
The incident report lists reckless driving as the cause and identifies Comer as the driver facing a reckless driving charge.
The charges associated with the incident remain allegations, and Comer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
