BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A driver rolled a vehicle at the intersection of Ellis and Gladstone streets Thursday afternoon, shearing a power pole off at its base and forcing multiple street closures while crews work to stabilize the pole and restore power.
The crash occurred at 1:28 p.m. Oct. 15, according to the Bellingham Police Department. Emergency responders transported the driver to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment.
The damaged pole remained upright, but police warned that it could fall because the crash severed its base.
Puget Sound Energy crews responded to stabilize the pole, repair the damage and restore power. Police estimated the work would take several hours.
