BELLINGHAM, Wash. — An Interstate 5 crash near North State Street backed up northbound traffic through Bellingham on Tuesday afternoon.

The collision occurred just south of North State Street near milepost 254. At 3:25 p.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation reported that the crash was blocking the right lane.
Medical personnel, firefighters and a WSDOT Incident Response Team had arrived at the scene by 3:26 p.m.
WSDOT initially reported that the collision partially blocked the left lane. However, the agency later updated the alert to show the right lane blocked.
Traffic cameras showed congestion extending south beyond Samish Way shortly before 3:30 p.m. Drivers should expect delays while crews respond and clear the roadway.
Officials have not released information about injuries or the number of vehicles involved.
UPDATE: WSDOT North reported the accident cleared at 4 p.m.
