Level 1 Evacuations in Effect
Skagit County Emergency Management said Level 1 “Get Ready” evacuation notices have been issued for homes between mileposts 62 and 64 near Mountain View Lane.
A Level 1 evacuation does not require residents to leave immediately. Instead, officials urge people to remain alert, monitor official updates and prepare in case evacuation levels increase.
Residents should begin gathering medications, important documents, pet supplies and emergency go kits. Officials also encourage anyone with mobility limitations, medical needs, livestock or transportation concerns to begin making plans now in case conditions worsen.
Drones Grounded Over Fire Area
Emergency officials are also reminding the public not to fly drones near the wildfire.
Unauthorized drones can force firefighting aircraft to stop flying, delaying suppression efforts and creating additional safety hazards for crews working on the ground and in the air.
Highway Remains Open
Despite the fire activity, SR 530 remains open to traffic. Drivers traveling through the area should expect emergency vehicles and remain alert for changing conditions.
Officials continue to monitor the fire and evacuation areas. Additional notices could be issued if fire behavior changes.
Residents can receive emergency notifications by signing up for Skagit Ready Alerts through Skagit County Emergency Management.
