FERNDALE, Wash. — A crash involving a utility truck temporarily shut down northbound Hannegan Road near East Smith Road Friday afternoon, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies reported the crash around 4:30 p.m. Friday. Authorities closed northbound Hannegan Road from East Smith Road while crews worked to clear the scene.
Officials said the crash was non-injury, but the roadway remained blocked as responders secured the area and assessed the vehicle involved.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews cleared the roadway.
Authorities have not released details about what caused the crash.
Utility truck involved in crash
The crash involved a large utility truck equipped with a boom lift. The vehicle appeared partially tipped onto the roadway near the intersection while emergency responders worked nearby.
The accident occured in the roundabout and the boom on the truck can be seen swung out of place blocking all lanes.
Fire crews and law enforcement responded to the scene to manage traffic and assist with recovery operations.
Northbound traffic on Hannegan Road remained closed temporarily as crews worked to remove the vehicle and reopen the roadway.
