BLAINE, Wash. — U.S. Border Patrol agents carried out three targeted Blaine Sector arrests last week. Including an arrest of a Mexican national who authorities say has a criminal history that includes kidnapping, indecent liberties, unlawful imprisonment and spousal abuse.
Federal authorities said agents carried out the targeted immigration arrests since men were identified as being in the United States illegally.
Authorities said the individual arrested on March 2 has prior arrests for kidnapping, indecent liberties, unlawful imprisonment and spousal abuse.
Border Patrol said the man is now facing removal proceedings.
Federal officials did not release the suspect’s name, the location of the arrest, or when the enforcement action occurred.
Blaine Sector agents regularly conduct targeted enforcement operations across northwest Washington. Those operations often involve individuals who already have criminal histories or outstanding warrants.
In recent months, federal agencies operating in the region have highlighted several arrests tied to assault, domestic violence, DUI and other serious offenses.
Officials say these targeted arrests focus on individuals considered public safety threats.
The Blaine Sector covers the U.S.–Canada border from the Pacific Ocean east through Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish counties.
Location of Blaine Sector arrest not specified
Federal officials did not say where the March 2 targeted arrest occurred.
Recent enforcement updates from the Blaine Sector have shown agents conducting operations outside Whatcom County. Earlier this week, federal authorities announced a targeted arrest carried out by Blaine Sector agents in Thurston County.
That broader activity may explain why the agency did not specify the location of the March 2 arrest in its announcement.
Last week, PNW Daily reported that public updates about immigration arrests in Whatcom County had briefly slowed. After several weeks of steady announcements from federal agencies, it was noticeable.
Throughout February, local authorities regularly posted about targeted enforcement operations across northwest Washington, many involving suspects with prior criminal histories.
Federal agencies do not announce every arrest publicly, but due to the number of arrests spread out over a large geographic area likely led to the delay in the announcements.
Additional Blaine Sector arrests announced
Federal officials also announced Monday, two additional Blaine Sector arrests in Washington state tied to targeted enforcement operations earlier this month.
According to U.S. Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agent for the Blaine Sector, Targeted Enforcement Unit agents arrested Alfonso Ramirez-Delgado on March 4 in Lynden, Washington.
Authorities identified Ramirez-Delgado as a Mexican citizen with multiple prior immigration arrests. Officials said he was also arrested for DUI in February 2026. He is currently being held for removal proceedings.
A day earlier, Bellingham Border Patrol agents working with Enforcement and Removal Operations in Seattle arrested Medarys Orellana-Ruano on March 3 in Burien, Washington.
Federal officials identified Orellana-Ruano as a citizen of El Salvador with a prior immigration arrest. Authorities said he is also being held for removal proceedings.
