The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people involved in James’s disappearance.
BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Federal, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies continue to search for Besalynn Mary James, as the FBI offers a $10,000 reward for information on the Lummi Nation tribal member who disappeared in Bellingham a year ago.
The FBI Seattle Field Office is leading the investigation. It is working with the Lummi Nation Police Department, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, and Bellingham Police Department.
James was last seen at 1:16 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2025, at her residence on the Lummi Nation Indian Reservation in Bellingham. Five days later, authorities reported her missing to the Lummi Nation Police Department.
Concerning Details
Investigators believe James wore a black jacket when she disappeared. However, she left the rest of her belongings behind.
In addition, James did not drive. She also never went anywhere without her dogs. Yet, the dogs remained at her home.
Because of these circumstances, investigators say they are concerned about her safety.
