LYNDEN, Wash. — U.S. Border Patrol and ICE agents arrested three undocumented immigrants during targeted enforcement operations in Lynden, including one person wanted on a homicide charge in Mexico.
Border Patrol announced the arrests in a social media post, saying agents located the individuals during operations near the U.S.-Canada border. The agency described the group as “criminal aliens” hiding in the United States.
Officials said all three remain in federal custody. Border Patrol said authorities will prosecute and deport them.
The agency did not release names, arrest dates, or court details. Border Patrol also did not say whether U.S. prosecutors have filed charges or which jurisdiction would handle the cases.
What Border Patrol said
According to the agency, the arrests occurred during targeted operations in Lynden, a Whatcom County community near the northern border. Border Patrol said one of the individuals was wanted in Mexico for homicide.
The agency said it will continue enforcement operations aimed at identifying and removing undocumented immigrants with criminal histories.
What remains unclear
Border Patrol has not said whether Mexican authorities requested extradition of the homicide suspect. Officials also have not explained whether the individual will face charges in the United States first.
The agency has not disclosed how long the individuals lived in the region or what led agents to locate them.
The announcement comes as immigration enforcement continues to draw attention in northern Washington. Lynden sits near several border crossings and often sees federal activity tied to cross-border investigations.
Local law enforcement agencies have not reported involvement in the operation as of publication.
