A Blaine teenager missing in January and February has been found safe, Blaine Police Department Confirmed.
BLAINE, Wash. — A 17-year-old Blaine-area teen who was reported missing again has been found safe, according to her family.
The Blaine Police Department confirmed shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday that Destany Gray-Haugness was located and reunited with her family.
No additional details about where she was found or the circumstances surrounding her return were immediately released.
Gray-Haugness had been the subject of a missing person alert after she was last seen Feb. 25 in Bellingham, according to information shared by the Blaine Police Department.
Second disappearance follows January case
The case marks the second time this year the teen has been reported missing.
Family members previously told PNW Daily that she disappeared Jan. 7 in the Blaine area after leaving with a family pickup truck. Authorities classified that case as a runaway.
She was later found safe, according to family.
Family members have not clarified the difference between the names Destany Gray-Haugness and Destany Delane Gray used in earlier reporting.
No further information has been released.
Teen runaways remain common across Washington
Cases involving missing teens are often classified as runaways, which make up the majority of juvenile missing person reports.
According to national data from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, more than 90 percent of missing children reports involve endangered runaways.
Washington state agencies track similar trends, with most juvenile cases involving teens who leave voluntarily but may still face significant risks while away from home.
Authorities continue to encourage the public to report sightings and information quickly, as early tips can play a critical role in safely locating missing juveniles.
