FERNDALE, Wash. — A Ferndale brandishing incident ended when a man accidentally shot himself Tuesday morning in the 6000 block of Portal Way, prompting a police response and a temporary lockdown at nearby businesses.
Officers were dispatched around 10:40 a.m. after multiple reports of a person displaying a gun in the area. As a precaution, nearby businesses were notified while officers moved to secure the scene.

The man was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Police say no other people were injured and no additional suspects were involved.
