LYNDEN, Wash. — Federal immigration enforcement agents arrested a man near Lynden this week, the latest in a series of targeted immigration operations across Whatcom County.
According to U.S. Border Patrol officials, Blaine Sector Targeted Enforcement Unit agents took Honorio Juarez-Vazquez, identified as a Mexican citizen, into custody Feb. 24, 2026.
Authorities said Juarez-Vazquez previously faced charges filed by the Everson Police Department, including driving under the influence and attempting to elude. Federal officials said he is currently awaiting immigration removal proceedings. No additional details about the circumstances leading to the arrest were released.
Part of a broader pattern locally
The arrest follows several recent enforcement actions across the Blaine Sector, particularly in the Lynden, Bellingham and Blaine areas.
In recent weeks, federal agencies have announced targeted arrests involving individuals with prior criminal histories, typically sharing limited case details publicly. The operations often involve the sector’s Targeted Enforcement Unit and may occur away from ports of entry.
Continued visibility along the northern border
The Blaine Sector covers roughly 300 miles of the U.S.–Canada boundary, and federal officials have highlighted sustained enforcement visibility in northwest Washington in recent months.
As with many recent cases, authorities have not indicated whether additional criminal charges are pending beyond immigration proceedings.
PNW Daily will update this story if additional information becomes available.
