The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s immediate help locating Krista Joy Hunt.
CONCRETE, Wash. — Three weeks after Krista Joy Hunt was reported missing, investigators have released no new public information as family members and volunteers continue search efforts across the Concrete area.
The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Hunt, 37, remains listed as an active missing person under case number 26-01235. Deputies have not publicly disclosed any further surrounding the investigation into her disappearance.
“Detectives are actively investigating this case and continuing efforts to locate Ms. Hunt,” the department said in a statement Tuesday. “At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is asking for continued public assistance.”
Hunt was reported missing Feb. 1. She is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last known to be wearing a gray Carhartt coat and black leggings.
Family and volunteer searches continue
Friends and relatives say grassroots search efforts began within days of Hunt being reported missing.
Cara Kuhlmann, a longtime friend helping coordinate outreach, said volunteer teams conducted organized searches Feb. 3, 5, 6 and 7. Searchers used mapped grids and divided teams based on terrain risk, with experienced volunteers assigned to steep or wooded areas.
“My primary goal is to keep Krista’s face in the public eye and support the investigation in any way possible,” Kuhlmann said.
Kuhlmann said she has distributed hundreds of missing-person flyers throughout Concrete and Marysville while working to assemble a clearer timeline of Hunt’s movements.
Her mother, Pamela Hunt, is using GoFundMe to ask the community for help continuing the search for her missing daughter.
Pamela said she is worried that Krista may have been killed since two weeks before she went missing, Krista was covered in bruises and strangle marks.
“Doctors warned that if she was strangled again, she might not survive,” Pamela wrote on GoFundMe. “I reported Krista missing on February 1st, and every day without her feels impossible. But I am her mother, and I will never stop looking for her.”

Sunday, March 1st will be exactly one month since she was reported missing.
Friends and family will gather on Sunday in Concrete for a candlelight vigil at:
7503 N Superior, Park & Ride
Concrete, WA 98237
“Krista has brought so many people together but now it’s our turn to come together for her!” the announcement said.
“We’d like to invite you to gather with us, Krista’s family and friends, to make a presence and show we will continue to hold onto hope for Krista.”
Personal belongings returned without Hunt
According to information shared by family members, Hunt’s phone, wallet and dog were returned to her mother Feb. 2.
“On February 2nd, the mother of Krista’s boyfriend returned Krista’s phone, wallet, and dog to Krista’s mother,” Kuhlmann said. “Krista was not with her belongings and has not been seen since.”
Authorities have not publicly commented on those details.
Locations highlighted by searchers
Volunteers and relatives have focused attention on several locations tied to Hunt’s last known movements, including areas near a towing business, the Lone Star Bar and the Loggers Landing Shell station, where a possible sighting was reported.
Law enforcement has not confirmed those locations as part of the official investigative timeline.
Community concern and investigative realities
Multiple unresolved disappearances over several years have fueled concern among residents and advocacy groups in rural Skagit County.
Law-enforcement agencies emphasize that each missing-person case is investigated individually and that circumstances, evidence and timelines vary widely. Officials continue to caution against speculation and stress that tips, even years later, can help move investigations forward.
