LYNDEN, Wash. — U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man near Lynden on Feb. 18 during an immigration enforcement operation in Whatcom County.
Officials identified the man as Jorge Solano-Vargas, a Mexican citizen. Agents assigned to the Blaine Sector’s Targeted Enforcement Unit took him into custody, according to federal authorities.
Border Patrol said Solano-Vargas has prior arrests that include hit-and-run and multiple DUI offenses. His most recent DUI arrest occurred in January 2026, officials said.
Authorities have not released details about the circumstances leading to the arrest, potential new charges, or where Solano-Vargas is being held.
The incident follows a pattern documented in recent PNW Daily reporting showing arrests and enforcement activity in Bellingham, Lynden and Ferndale. The distribution away from ports of entry reinforces Whatcom County’s role as one of Washington’s most visible immigration enforcement areas.
PNW Daily will update this story if additional information becomes available.
