BLAINE, Wash. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Blaine arrested a Guatemalan citizen who authorities say entered the United States illegally in 2021, according to a statement posted Tuesday by the DFO Seattle Field Office.
Officials said the individual had accrued nearly five years of unlawful presence in the country. Officers took the person into custody and transported them to a detention facility for further processing.
Limited details released
The agency did not release the individual’s name, the location of the arrest, or whether the case stemmed from a targeted operation or routine enforcement encounter. Authorities also did not outline potential immigration proceedings or timelines.
PNW Daily has requested additional information from federal officials. As of publication, no further details were available.
Ongoing enforcement visibility
The arrest comes amid continued federal enforcement activity across Whatcom County, particularly in the Blaine Sector, which spans the U.S.–Canada border from the Pacific Ocean east to the Cascade Mountains. Officials routinely announce arrests on social media but often release limited case specifics.
In fact, this is the second Guatemalan taken into custody by the Blaine sector this week.
PNW Daily has reported on eight other immigration enforcement arrests in the past week alone.
