BLAINE, Wash. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Blaine arrested a citizen of the Republic of the Marshall Islands this week, according to the agency’s Seattle Field Office.
Authorities say is the man is removable from the United States because of prior criminal convictions. Officials said the individual has convictions for two counts of coercion, third-degree theft and second-degree theft while in the United States.
Officers took the person into custody and transported them to a detention facility for processing, the agency said.
The post did not include the individual’s name, the date of the arrest or the location of the encounter. Authorities also did not outline possible immigration proceedings.
Federal agencies have announced several immigration-related arrests across Whatcom County in recent days, often with limited public details.
