SEATTLE — Police arrested a drunken Seattle Seahawks fan Sunday night after he climbed onto the field at Lumen Field following the team’s 31–27 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
The incident happened Jan. 25 shortly after the game ended. Officers said the man, in his 40s, climbed down a metal railing and walked onto the field while holding what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage.
Fans are never allowed on the playing field. Players, coaches, and stadium staff were still on the grass at the time.
Allied Universal Security guards working the game stopped the man and escorted him off the field. Guards detained him after he made physical contact with a coach. Seattle police officers then arrested him.
Officers reported clear signs of intoxication. They noted slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on his breath.
Police later released the man after completing their investigation. Detectives referred possible criminal charges to the Seattle City Attorney’s Office.
Police also issued a formal trespass notice. The ban prohibits the man from returning to Lumen Field.
The Seahawks’ win sent Seattle to Super Bowl LX, where the team will face the New England Patriots.
