BLAINE, Wash. — In the closing months of 2025, Blaine border arrests surged as U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Border Patrol arrested dozens of individuals along the northern border.
Blaine border arrests primarily involved illegal entries, overstays, and failure to comply with removal orders. Many suspects were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for removal proceedings. Enforcement actions have continued into early 2026, including a case involving physical assault on a federal officer.
Assault on Border Patrol Supervisor
A Canadian woman, Lindsay Anne Moffatt, faces federal charges after allegedly crossing the border illegally and assaulting a U.S. Border Patrol supervisor at Peace Arch State Park.
Moffatt was initially denied entry at the Peace Arch Port of Entry for possessing a marijuana-related vape pen. Later that evening, she reportedly crossed illegally on foot into U.S. territory, bypassing barriers, a deep culvert, and multiple warning signs.
Border Patrol agents located her and attempted to arrest her. During the arrest, she allegedly became combative shouting obscenities, resisting restraint, and kicking a female supervisory agent in the face, causing injury.
She faces charges of assault on a federal officer and improper entry. A U.S. magistrate judge found probable cause on Jan. 1, 2026. Moffatt reportedly told investigators she was attempting to meet her fiancé in the park to retrieve their dog and did not intend to strike anyone.
The incident highlights escalating encounters at the northern border, where the usually calm Peace Arch Park, intended for peaceful visits, has seen enforcement actions.

Patterns and Enforcement

Cases clustered around Blaine and Sumas ports of entry and nearby boundary areas, underscoring the northern border’s ongoing role as an active enforcement zone. The recent assault during the Blaine border arrest adds physical resistance to the prevailing pattern of immigration violations.
